Ciclofficina Thomas Sankara

The association takes its name from Thomas Sankara to commemorate the commitment of the first President of Burkina Faso from 1983 to 1987. A man of culture and a musician, he started a Pan-African revolution against financial colonialisms and the new slavery and fought for the cancellation of the colonial debt, food sovereignty, disarmament and women's rights. He was killed on October 15, 1987 after a coup d'état financed and supported by France. The action of the Thomas Sankara association is oriented towards building a welcoming community and is committed to improving the living conditions of those who find themselves in economic and social difficulties. They manage a bicycle workshop for the recovery and repair of old bicycles, to allow migrants and Italian citizens in difficulty to acquire autonomy in their travels. Thanks to the help of an expert volunteer, the training of new “mechanical cycles” was started. They also activated memoranda of understanding with the social services of Biella (IRIS consortium) for the reception of people in difficulty.
